Day 4
Tuesday, August 30
Update on 7/23/2013 (!)
I came to this page to glance through the photos again, and discovered to my horror that I had never finished the account of this day!
We left our timeshare in East Clare and headed southwest to the Ring of Kerry. I kept oohing and aahing and pointing at beautiful viewpoints. Jas gripped the steering wheel with all his might and kept repeating, “I can’t look now.” We stopped for lunch in Waterville, a darling little resort town that was a favorite of Charlie Chaplin. He hosted a film festival there every summer for many years. We both posed with the Chaplin statue.
Continuing along the road, we stopped in Kenmare for ice cream and a walk around. Then we headed up the road to Ladies View, where we took pictures with that glorious vista in the background.
Now heading back toward East Clare, we drove through Killarney and then Newcastle. Here we saw a small circus performing alongside the road. We quickly parked the car and bought tickets. Inside, we sat just ten feet from the ring, seeing lions, tigers and horses up close.
It was late when we got back to our place in East Clare, but we were filled with great visions in our head of all the beauty we had witnessed that day.
