This was the year I was going to start sewing down my stash. Then my Spousal Equivalent got a right knee total replacement, and his 70-something body went to hell! 👿 The surgery was the last week in February. Finally, in the past two weeks, he went back to pickleball three mornings a week and he mowed the yard! After six months, he’s baaaack! Now, as I find spare time, I can get serious about my destashing exercise.
As I look back through my fabric stash, I remember with horror the quantity of beautiful fabrics whose ads I succumbed to during the pandemic. I mean, there was nothing to do but dream, right?
Here’s bag no.1 – the Enigma Pouch for the Sew Sweetness Minikins 4 collection. And it’s ALL MINE.
Confession: it’s a tricky bag to sew, and I did not do an excellent job on it. I would be embarrassed to give it to anyone and have them think that’s the normal caliber of my work. So I’m keeping it. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.)
It’s ideal for sewing notions, whether to keep things better organized in one’s sewing space, or the take what you need along to a sewing class. Or cosmetics. This is my plan now that it’s finished. This bag, with its print inspired by the skyline of Florence, Italy, will hold my cosmetics when I travel. When I return home after each trip, I’ll refresh anything that got used up, and set it aside to wait for the next trip. I’m thinking that’s a great idea to make sure I’m not without beauty items I need when I vacation.
This little slice of Boston Cream Pie was made by my darling, artistic granddaughter in a polymer clay class a thousand years ago (she’s 25 now). She left it in my sewing room once upon a time, and I think zippers are so much easier to manipulate when one has a charm of some sort to grab ahold of. So Celeste’s creation is attached to my bag’s inside zipper pocket, and she’ll travel with me everywhere I go. 💗
